The four learning coaches from DAA enjoyed the workshop with Stephen Barkley in May. It was a great opportunity to further our understanding of coaching and it’s effectiveness when embedded in the culture of the school.

Below is a great little video on marine life and coral reefs. you may also like to pass it on to your Geography colleagues. I have done quite a bit of work on coral reefs over the years and I’m interested to know if any schools are utilising the fabulous coral reefs Dubai has on its doorstep. Let me know if you are interested in exploring the potential – don’t worry if you lack some confidence when it comes to fieldwork – I have run over 500 trips and helped write and deliver training on field work/risk assessments for a London borough so I am more than happy to assist.

GEMS Science Network meetings is a great initiative undertaken by the corporate office. It was really valuable to share ideas about common issues that most of schools come across in the group. it is an opportunity to discuss and share good practices, working collaboratively to raise the standards of teaching and learning science as it is a core subject. I’m looking forward for the next session.

An excellent website for children to use at home to improve mental maths skills – similar to world maths day website. Children win awards and compete with other children around the world to answer maths questions (also has spellings)
